The City of Sterling operates the sewer utility and bills for garbage service, while private companies provide the City with all other utilities. For your convenience, we've provided the contact information for each of the private utility providers here (as well as on our Utilities page under the Business tab).
Sewer and Garbage
The City of Sterling provides wastewater treatment services. For service regarding your account, call (815) 632-6632. Note: It is not necessary to sign up for a sewer account. Your account is automatically created when your water service is set up.
Garbage was previously included on your Illinois American Water bill. Since May 2012, your City bill has included both sewer and garbage. For more information on the new City billing process, please visit the Finance page under the Government tab.
The City of Sterling will soon be providing stormwater services through a dedicated Stormwater Utility Fee.

Comcast is our cable television provider. You can reach their local office to schedule an installation time at 1-800-266-2278 or online.
Direct TV and Dish are satellite providers in the Sterling area.
Sterling's electric is provided by ComEd. They may be reached toll-free at 800-334-7661.
Nicor provides natural gas service to the area. You can reach them toll-free at 888-642-6748.
AT & T is the local phone service provider for our region. To establish phone service, call 1-800-288-2020. Existing AT & T customers can select this link.

There are a few options available for internet service in Sterling. Cable internet is available through Comcast while DSL and wireless interest is available through Risebroadand, satellite internet is available through Hughesnet.
