About Sterling's Sidewalk 50/50 Program
The City of Sterling is offering our residential sidewalk/curb and gutter replacement program. The City has established a sidewalk and curb replacement program to encourage residents to make repairs to deteriorated sidewalks and curbs adjacent to their property on a 50/50 cost sharing basis. The program works as follows:
1. Contact the Public Works Department and schedule an on-site survey of your sidewalk or curb;
2. A City staff person will meet with you to evaluate your needs, as well as establish the installation cost;
3. You will be asked to sign a contract and pay for your portion of the cost prior to construction;
4. In a few weeks, your sidewalk or curb will be replaced.
The City administers the entire program. The contractor is responsible to the City for removing the old concrete and installing new sidewalk or curb, back-filling and seeding the area. The entire project is supervised by City staff.
Under this program, the City annually replaces approximately 20,000 square feet of sidewalk and approximately 1,000 linear feet of curb and gutter. Approximately 50 homeowners participate each year on a first come first serve basis. The program begins in June. Call to secure your place on the schedule.
