Ward 3 Alderwoman, Mackenzie Hopping

Term

October 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019

I am honored to to serve the Ward 3 as your alderwoman. We moved to Sterling in 2015, and  I quickly realized how special and unique Sterling was a community. I saw a community that sincerely cared for each other, took great pride in their community, and history. I was impressed with the public and private schools, art community, parks, small businesses, and health care. I am excited to serve Sterling and be a part of its growth and development!

I grew-up in Northern Virginia  and in 2004, I earned a B.S. in Studio Art with double majors in Painting and Drawing and a concentration in psychology from Bradley University. I attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a M.A. in Art Therapy.  In 2016, I started the businesses Art by Mackenzie and Hopping Toys, a business  focusing on creating hand made wooden toys for young children. Jacob and I have been married for 14 years and I have one daughter, Josephine.

We attend 180 Church, where I play keyboard in our band Unveiled. I also teach art and have coached hurdles at Christ Lutheran School as a volunteer. I also enjoy composing piano music. As long term goal, I hope to qualify for master in the 110 hurdles and I currently learning to box!
