| The Sterling Main Street organization was developed in
order to enhance the downtown area. It is their intent to work with a multitude of public
and private groups to restore, maintain, develop and promote the downtown. Sterling Main Street has developed programs such as walking history
tours, clean-up efforts, downtown revitalization loans, and fundraising for various
projects. Currently, the group is assisting the City in fundraising efforts for the City's
Streetscape project. This project will resurface some of the downtown streets, replace
sidewalks, add planters, benches and trees, and improve other existing infrastructure. In
conjunction, the City will also be rehabilitating a parking lot and considering the
addition of another.
