Police Hiring

Completed applications must be turned in by 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018.

General Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and not have reached your 35th birthday, U.S. citizen, high school diploma or equivalent, valid Illinois driver’s license, and good health and vision. Exam required.

The orientation/testing will be held for applicants on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Sterling High School, 1608 4th Avenue, Sterling, IL.

Public Works Hiring

Seasonal Part-time Summer Hires:

The City of Sterling is looking for students currently enrolled, or planning to be enrolled, in college or graduate studies for Seasonal Part Time Summer help to conduct maintenance of municipal buildings and grounds, including road maintenance. Use of lawn care equipment and small machinery. Valid Illinois Driver's License and proof of enrollment required. Apply to City of Sterling for the Public Works Department, in Coliseum Building 212 Third Avenue, Sterling OR for application and email to: EEO Employer. Fire Hiring

All advertising, testing, and establishing a hiring list for the Fire Department is conducted by the Sterling Police and Fire Commission.  Once the final list is posted, all new hires will come from that list.  The list is good for a two-year period.  Once the list expires, the commission repeats the process.
