Police Hiring

The City of Sterling is accepting applications for a part-time school crossing guard at Challand Middle School. Work hours are 7:30-8:30am and 2:30-3:30pm., Monday-Friday. The school’s calendar will determine any adjustments to the work hours (holidays, early outs, etc.). Interested applicants should respond to the Sterling Police Department’s Administration Office, 212 3rd Ave., Sterling, to acquire an application. Open 8am-4pm Mon-Fri.

 

THE CITY OF STERLING, IL Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is not currently accepting applications for POLICE OFFICER. 

General Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and not have reached your 35th birthday, U.S. citizen, high school diploma or equivalent, valid Illinois driver’s license, and good health and vision. Exam required.

Public Works Hiring

Seasonal Part-time Summer Hires:

The City of Sterling is looking for students currently enrolled, or planning to be enrolled, in college or graduate studies for Seasonal Part Time Summer help to conduct maintenance of municipal buildings and grounds, including road maintenance. Use of lawn care equipment and small machinery. Valid Illinois Driver's License and proof of enrollment required. Fire Hiring

All advertising, testing, and establishing a hiring list for the Fire Department is conducted by the Sterling Police and Fire Commission.  Once the final list is posted, all new hires will come from that list.  The list is good for a two-year period.  Once the list expires, the commission repeats the process.
