The Fire and Police Commission is composed of three members, each serving a three-year term.  This Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of January, April, July and October at 5:15 pm.

The board is charged with making rules to govern the appointment or hiring of police officers and firefighters, the promotion of police officers and firefighters and the removal or discharge of police officers or firefighters. The board enforces these rules by adopting and implementing testing procedures for hiring and promoting and by conducting hearings on charges brought against police officers or firefighters for which suspension or termination could result.
